Though there be happy remembrances

and recalling of sensual delights,

my passion lays waste, my essence extinguished

my heart’s anticipation now epitaph writes.

Your subtle subterfuge now a passing compassion

like the brief life of a butterfly in flight.

I’ll not waste away the hours waiting for your return;

you’ll not consume my dreams tonight…
